Tamim case: No progressBy Zaher Bitar, Staff Reporter and with inputs from Derek Baldwin |
Police said no suspects have been arrested in connection with the grisly murder of Leba-nese singer Suzan Tamim in late July in Dubai.
Tamim was buried on Monday in Beirut, eight days after her body was discovered by a relative at her Jumeirah Beach Residence flat.
Contrary to a recent media report in the UAE that the police had zoned in on the murderer, a senior police officer told XPRESS, "We have no suspect at the moment and investigations are under way." The officer dismissed claims that a Briton had been arrested and said the UK national was not considered by authorities as a suspect.
The press report, he said, was "completely untrue. It may take more time to make a breakthrough in this case".
However, Sue Elliot, a spokeswoman for the British Embassy, said, "A British national is helping police with the inquiries."
Staff at the British Consulate in Dubai are helping him with consular services, she said.
Investigation continues into the July 27 murder at Rimal 1 Tower, where Tamim recently purchased flat number 2204.
