Married life: Rajnikant dying to work with Ash?

BM

How has life been for you since your wedding?

It’s been beautiful. God bless Abhishek. He is such a wonderful guy. Though our schedules are gruelling, we try to spend as much time together as possible. The Bachchans are a wonderful family. Jaya (mother-in-law) and Amitabh (father-in-law) are like my own parents. It’s a blessing for any girl to be married into such a family where you feel so much at home.

How was it working with Ashutosh Gowarikar in Jodhaa Akbar?

It was an enriching experience I have always appreciated Ashutosh’s movies. He’s a passionate filmmaker, very methodical and detailed. As an actor you benefit from the experience of working with him. He is also a nice person because he could have blamed me and Hrithik for the delay of Jodhaa Akbar – I was getting married and Hrithik was going on a family holiday – but he didn’t say a word about it.

How was your chemistry with Hrithik Roshan?

It was great. The chemistry between us in Dhoom 2 was different from that in Jodhaa Akbar. In Dhoom 2 there were no pretensions in our romance. But in Jodhaa Akbar it was restrained because of the story.

It’s fantastic that we still managed to pull if off. I guess it was because of the comfort level I share with Hrithik.

There are rumours that Amitabh recommended you for a role opposite Rajnikant in Robot...

No. That’s not true. On the contrary, it’s Rajnikant who has been wanting to work with me ever since he saw my work in Jeans and Devdas. Unfortunately, my tight schedule didn’t allow me to accept his offers. When director Shankar offered me Robot last year, I was busy doing Pink Panther 2 and Jodhaa Akbar. But as soon as I was free I gave him my dates.

What are the new movies you are working in?

I have signed on Shankar’s Robot with Rajnikant in the lead as well as Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar Raaj.

How seriously do you take horoscopes?

My day begins with them

I don't trust them, but I enjoy reading them

They're mumbo-jumbo
