Here comes the son: Finding Mimoh

BM

Mimoh Chakraborty has finally mustered enough confidence to follow in his famous dad’s footsteps.

Walking in the footsteps of his father, Mithun Chakraborty, Mimoh joins the growing list of star sons with his first release Jimmy.

Here he talks about his insecurities, passions and inspiration as a new actor.

Your debut film is releasing after a lot of delays and disappointments. How are you feeling now?

I am quite excited but at the same time I’m nervous, scared and petrified.

We’ve heard that you worked hard to groom yourself?

Yes. I knew I wasn’t ready so I spent several years grooming myself. It took me eight years and losing 50 kilos to get me here. That’s not all. I had to learn martial arts, dancing and many more things about filmmaking. But that was like the warm-up phase. It’s with Jimmy that I’ll enter stage one. As an actor though, you are constantly grooming yourself. Yes, I was totally raw while shooting for Jimmy, but now stage one will begin.

When did you know you wanted to be an actor?

I wanted to study astrophysics. I think it happened by luck. I watched Hrithik in Kaho Na Pyar Hai and changed my mind. His success changed my thoughts. I saw his motivation and hard work, and it inspired me. I was getting offers back then too. It’s after that that I began losing weight, gaining confidence and now I’m giving you an interview.
