Telly star Prachi Desai has created a flutter on the big screen with a stellar performance in Rock On!! Excerpts from an interview with the newest star in Tinseltown.
Did you expect such rave reviews for your performance in Rock On!!?
I just couldn’t believe it. Initially I was a little apprehensive. I thought it would be difficult to make an impression in just two-and-a-half hours – especially when I knew that the audience was going to compare my performance with my TV roles. .
Is it true that Shabana Azmi has also praised your acting skills?
When noted people from the movie industry compliment your performance it makes you feel proud of who you are and what you have achieved. I cannot be happier after hearing Shabana’s comment. I think this is the best debut a newcomer could hope for.
Did your exposure on TV help?
Absolutely! I have been doing TV for over two-and-a-half-years and Kasamh Se brought out the best in me.
Have any of your co-stars in the TV serial seen the movie?
Some of them have and they are really proud of me.
So where do you go from here?
I signed films with Mahesh Bhatt and Abbas Mustan before Rock On!! I hope they do as well when they are released. Of course, now I will have to be selective about my choice of movies.
Who’s this guy from Pune whom you have a crush on?
Oh God, I am sick of answering this question. Once something gets into print, it just gets blown out of proportion. I don’t want to risk another controversy by talking about it.
