Thousands of text messages flooded Radio One today in response to their party at Dubai Tennis Stadium on Saturday.
Over 7,000 people turned up at the event, which was headlined by former Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland. The American R’n’B singer had the crowd in raptures as she belted numbers Dilemma, Emotions, Like This and Can’t Nobody.
The diva also performed Destiny’s Child’s hit singles like Say My Name, No No No and Bills.
But no one from among the crowd enjoyed the show more than Assad Abdel, 25, who was called on the stage by Kelly during the performance.
Another star attraction at the event was Karl Wolf who played hits like Africa, She Wants to Know and Butterflies besides a track, Summer Days of Beirut dedicated to his Lebanese origins.
Local band Abri had the best outing of their career as they performed to a capacity crowd. Their set list included tracks like Philosophies, Mr Brandy Man, A piece of Yourself and their latest single Three Quarters.
Simon Schooly, head of Radio One, hinted at the possibility of organising another party later this year.
The event also gave people the opportunity to interact with Radio One Disc jockeys Schooly, Danny C, Bliss, Selena, Simon B, Humaid, Danny Neville and Flex.
