The sixth Dubai International Jazz festival came to a close Saturday night after ten days of electrifying music at the Dubai Media City amphitheatre.
The closing act was Bee Gees’ very own Robin Gibb, who belted out chartbusters such as Tragedy, How Deep Is Your Love and Staying Alive the immensely popular Saturday Night Fever number.
Tony Bennet’s daughter Antonia Bennet, Jesse Cook, Andrea Martinez and Courtney Pine were among the other biggies who performed at the event.
In his pre-show radio interview with Suzie Wonder of Gulf News Broadcasting Radio 2 Gibb had promised to bring the house down. And he sure did with three encores.
Gibb’s act was preceded by a soul-stirring performance by Courtney Pine whose music included elements of funk, reggae and jazz.
Another highlight of the evening was a scintillating performance by the Puppini Sisters.
