Chevrolet Avalanche: Brute forceMazhar Farooqui |
The new Chevrolet Avalanche is a monster on wheels. Bristling with aggression and very, very intimidating.
Take it on the highway and you won’t have to bare down on some tiny roach car into getting out of your way – it will scurry away even if you’re half-a-kilometre behind.
As reassuring as it may sound, this shouldn’t be the only reason why you should consider this full-size crew cab. There are other factors that make this jaw-slackeningly good looking pickup the unmatched choice in the SUV category.
Two good
The Avalanche combines the passenger-comfort attributes of an SUV with the cargo capability of a truck, giving its owners the best of both worlds.
Under the hood
The SUV has a 5.3-litre V8 engine that makes 355 horsepower.
Safety first
Anti-lock disc brakes, side curtain airbags and an advanced rollover sensors are standard.
Inside story
The interior is no great shakes. The storage capacity, however, is quite generous.
Best feature
The vehicle’s distinctive fold down midgate – a removable wall that separates the cabin from the bed is its best feature, as it allows the rear seats to be lowered and the cargo area to be expanded to the length of a long bed.
