Dubai to have Cavalli Club in November

Agencies

Celebrity fashion designer Roberto Cavalli will open a new entertainment and night life concept club in Dubai this November.

"Dubai is a city of the future and the Cavalli Club is a futuristic space created with a global perspective," said Cavalli, whose lifestyle ambassadors include stars like Madonna, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce Knowles, Charlize Theron and Victoria Beckham.

Size matters

The two-floor, 27,500 square foot space – four times the size of his Milan club – done in black quartz floors shining with crystal dust and six-metre-high walls dripping with Swarovski crystals will be located within the Fairmont Hotel but will have a separate entrance.

"Dubai reflects the third millennium," said Cavalli, 68, who predicted that the city state’s "new expressions [of living] can change the habits of the world".

"Dubai is opening the windows of tomorrow onto this project," chimed the Tuscan designer, who has partnered with Pragma Group, a UAE holding with wide ranging stakes in everything from marketing and hospitality to entertainment and venture capital.

Cavalli intends retailing his own jewellery, watches and exclusive accessories in the club, along with a deli featuring his choice of the best of "Made in Italy", opening late for the non-conventional shopping hours of the Middle East’s fastest growing economy.

There will also be a top-floor Italian restaurant and two large atolls in gold-coloured glass and fur, to host a sushi bar and a venue offering a Cavalli selection of drinks.

Lounge

The upper floor will also feature a lounge bar with music and a suspended platform that will host the DJ and the dancers, as well as other shows.

Opening restaurants and bars is a long tradition of Italian designers; Giorgio Armani has several editions of Nobu and Armani Prive a basement dance club, Dolce & Gabbana own Milan eatery Gold, and Versace has several top of the range hotels.

27,500

sq ft is the space the club will occupy
