Sangam concert in Dubai

By Michael Gomes, Staff Writer

Part of the Eid celebrations in Dubai, the Sangam concert, held at the Dubai Tennis Stadium, featured Pakistani rock percussion band Overload followed by pop sensations Strings. The show ended on a high note with Bollywood singer Shaan belting out some of his popular hits.

Overload opened the show with their fiery brand of East-West fusion rock. Distortion guitar, smooth strings and a pair of dholaks (Asian drums) playing some exotic beats was the distinguishing factor of their sound.

Strings wooed the crowd with their swooning, romantic numbers. From their Spider-Man 2 soundtrack to their mega popular number Duur, they were clearly a hit with the audience.

Shaan as usual lived up to his reputation by delivering an impressive session in his sonorous voice. His set list included songs such as the title Main Hoon Don, Saawariya, Hey Shona and more.
