Thank You For The Emotion?

Nirmala Janssen, XPRESS Editor

Since our launch issue last Thursday we’ve received bouquets and brickbats. More of the former, I am glad to report, but that does not mean that we have not taken criticisms seriously.

However we especially ignored those messages that contained just one four letter word that begins with S.

I have always been of the opinion that anything new is bound to have its fans and its critics. Please know that we have welcomed each of the hundreds of messages we have received on phone, fax, and e-mail and on our website.

Let me also point out to you that although we have not made claims to being anything but a people focused, inclusive, community paper we have promised to listen.
And listen we will; very carefully to each of you who has picked up XPRESS and spent the 25 minutes to read it from cover to cover.

Thank you for reading us and spending the time and energy it took to provide us with your feedback. To our fans we will continue to provide you each week with a paper that is different from anything you’ve experienced in the UAE.

To our critics: our apologies if we have offended your senses. I hope that in the near future you will be converted to faithful fans because we will be working hard at doing exactly that.

Your comments have helped us look at ourselves through a different prism and that is very positive because it helps us become better.

What is most heartening though is the fact, love us or hate us, you have spent an emotion on us. It would have been terrible had you been indifferent.

So tell us again this week what you liked or hated. We welcome it.

Do you think parents who are too pushy towards their children turn them into an obsessive hobbyist?

Yes, I'm a victim

No, it's for their own good
