Discover hue you are

Nirmala Janssen

This Eid Al Fitr, while the public sector got a week off from work and the private sector just two days, there are some who complained they were in the wrong job because they got none.

So, if you are one of those whining away about how you may have taken a wrong turn in your career path because you always have to work while the rest of the country is on holiday, take heart, help is near.

According to new research, your preferred primary, secondary and achromatic colours help you determine a successful career path and reveal your true core motivation.

Don’t get me wrong. This is not about liking your employer. It’s about loving what you do…. because that in the end makes work a pleasure and not a pain.

The Color Career Counselor powered by the Dewey Color System is a validated, American, non-language career test with which you can figure out a successful career path based on "how you approach work, the types of workplaces where you work best and how you handle work tasks", according to the author of the system, Dewey Sadka.

"Colour preference indicates your personality's best career fit. Preferred colours indicate passionate career pursuits; non-preferred choices establish workplace skills you least enjoy." Sadka told Careerbuilder.com; the website where I found the link: http://careerpath.com/career-tests/colorcareercounselor.aspx

You can take the test there and find out if you are a square peg in a round hole or a perfect fit. I did, three times to be sure and every time the results were the same. I’m a non-conformist Creator. Luckily, I’m very suited to both my careers as Editor and English Teacher as they are my best occupational paths.

My second category is Social Manager which gives me hope that if I’m bored I could go off and become a motivational speaker or a guidance counsellor with young adults.

Well, go ahead and find out who you really are: The communicator, the investor, the activist or the hundreds of other colour profiles there are. If it makes you happy, write in and let us know if you found yourself. If you consider this very boring, then excuse me; my sense of humour is on holiday because I’m working.

Should all websites carry age ratings?

Yes, it will keep kids safer

No, there's no way to enforce them

I have no strong feelings about it
