Engaging in some simple course management is the single most valuable skill you can adopt to improve your scoring.
How many of you can honestly admit to "working a shot" from the moment you step up to it? Not many.
I’m not referring to "working the ball" by shaping your shots – this is way too challenging for most club golfers. I mean simple steps and questions you can ask yourself to increase the likelihood of pulling off an appropriate shot which will lead to improved and more consistent low scoring.

I must stress that despite being a PGA Golf Professional I am not an expert on this week’s topic by any stretch of your imagination.
The rules of golf are arguably the most thorough and complex governing legislation you will ever come across in sport – well, second to, perhaps, Formula 1.
There are not many people on the planet today that could boast to be a rules guru and this is clear when you watch professional golf when tournament referees regularly consult the rule book.

During the past few weeks, my travels have taken me to the far reaches of golfing territory, from the established links lands of east Scotland at the home of golf – St Andrews, to Russia, Mexico and to the hotter climes of Saudi Arabia and now Oman.
It’s been a fascinating period of my life to see how golf has developed or is still developing in such different locations with such differing cultures, traditions, climates and history.
It has been very clear to see, that no matter which part of the globe golf courses are being developed, golf is regarded as a main catalyst to increase the tourism trade for the respective countries.

I have been asked a lot recently, “what makes a golf destination successful?” Since I have become involved in regional development of the game, it’s a question that I find truly fascinating.
Dubai has been a classic case as it has become recognised as a leading golf destination – albeit on a small scale for the time being – over a very short period of time.
This week I am attending the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) in Cancun, Mexico, which is organised by IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators).
