Disillusion And DiscoveriesBy Radhina Almeida Coutinho |
(Spoiler warning: The Harry Potter blog will be updated several times a day until the book is completed and will contain the major dramatic points in the plot.)
Almost halfway through the book now and things are beginning to go horribly wrong. Harry is losing allies, faith in people he previously believed to be infallible, and he now has a price on his head.
Ron and Harry have a row leading to Ron’s departure from the team, and Harry and Hermione are attacked by Nagini the snake and Voldemort at Godric’s Hollow, the little village where Harry’s parents were killed and buried.
(Through sheer stupidity I might add…you’d think they’d learn not to trust strangers in strange places when people are trying to hunt them down and kill them!)
In the struggle, Harry breaks his wand, losing the special powers he believes it contains, and with it, his faith in his own ability to perform extraordinary magic.
And Harry begins to learn more about the person who entrusted him with the task of finding and destroying Voldemort, but so far everything he has found out paints a picture very different from the Dumbledore he believed he knew.
But disillusionment always leads to interesting discoveries and I’m guessing there are plenty more to come.
