Desert Rock Festival: Headbangers' ball

Vikram Singh Barhat, Staff Reporter

The much awaited annual headbangers ball, Dubai Desert Rock Festival, is back. And as always promises to be an affair to remember with an impressive line- up and rockers from home and abroad.

The two-day festival which takes place at Dubai Festival City on March 7-8 will feature bands like Korn (USA), Slapshock (Philippines), Nervecell (UAE) and Spoon Feedas (South Africa).

However, the biggest draw of the fifth anniversary of the festival is expected to be Marky Ramone (from the iconic Ramones) and Velvet Revolver, a band that features rock stars from Guns’N’Roses, Stone Temple Pilots and Wasted Youth.

The spirit of the festival cuts across class and cultural lines as it brings together people from all communities to celebrate rock music.

Lara Teperdjian, vice- president of CSM, the organisers of the festival, said: "Rock music crosses boundaries and breaks down barriers. That is the message I try to get across when I put the line-up together. It is essential for us to support bands of all calibres and from all over the world and, even more importantly, have people from different countries celebrate their love for rock music together."

Where: Dubai Festival City

Tickets: Dh250 (single), Dh350 (for 2 days)
