Concert: AR Rahman live

India’s biggest music star AR Rahman will perform at a live concert in Sharjah Friday evening. Joining him on stage will be Hariharan, Sadhana Sargam, Kailash Kher, Chitra and percussionist Sivamani. Tickets, priced between Dh125 and Dh1,000, are available at Spinneys, Choithram and Lulu hypermarkets. Movie for free: Gulf film festival

The Gangs of Baghdad, a movie based on the psychological issues that victims of atrocities in Baghdad must live with, premieres at the Gulf Film Festival (DUCTAC) at 1.30 this afternoon. Must-watch movies on Friday – the last day of the festival – include Saudis in America (Cinestar, Mall of the Emirates at 1.30pm) and One Day in Khadimya Prison for Women (Cinestar, Mall of the Emirates at 7pm).

Celebration: Baisakhi night

Indian pop star Mika Singh and Bombay Rockers will liven up the celebrations at the World Punjab Baisakhi Nite tomorrow evening. An ancient harvest festival in the Indian state of Punjab, Baisakhi also marks the beginning of a new solar year.
