Solo show: ‘Dutchess’ Fergie

American pop singer Fergie, also known as the Dutchess after the title of her multi-platinum debut solo album, is all set for her first solo performance in Dubai. The Black Eyed Peas frontwoman, who has many hits to her credit including Fergalicious, Glamorous, Big Girls Don’t Cry, London Bridge, Finally and Clumsy, is expected to sing many of her solo songs as well as her Black Eyed Peas hits.

Rock gig: Queen arrive

Rock fans should not miss out on this great opportunity to watch British rock legend Queen perform live in Dubai. The cult band have combined forces with Paul Rodgers, the lead vocalist of the ’70s rock bands Bad Company and Free for this gig. Featuring original Queen members Brian May on lead guitar and Roger Taylor on drums, fans can expect to hear them play classics like We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. The band will be accompanied by Spike Edney on keyboards, Jamie Moses on rhythm guitar and Danny Miranda on bass.

The set list is expected to include a mix of classic Queen songs as well as tracks from their new album The Cosmos Rocks.

Festival: Slob 2008

Performances by Holly Major, Tim Hassall, Paul Nolan and Dubai Drums headline the Slob Festival organised by Dubai Lime to promote local talent. A DJ will man the decks until the wee hours. All proceeds will go to Gulf For Good and Dubai Women’s Association.

Open air cinema: Giant screen action

Watch Bond movie Quantum of Solace on a mammoth 4,000 sq ft screen at the inaugural Hydra Open Air Cinema on November 10. The Duchess, Mongol, Buy, Borrow, Steal and Genghis Khan are among several other movies which will be screened during the 10-day event.
