Sheetkari Pranayam

Dr Vishwas Chhabra

When the temperature soars, it’s crucial to keep your mind relaxed.

Sheetkari Pranayam

Sheetkari is a variation of Sheetali Pranayam.

Technique

  • Open your lips and fold your tongue towards your throat
  • Touch the tip of your tongue to your upper palate. Keep your upper and lower teeth together
  • Inhale deeply through the teeth with eyes open. Make a sound like (si-si-si) and feel the coolness at the back of your throat. Then close your lips and relax your tongue
  • Hold your breath as long as you can, with eyes closed
  • Exhale slowly through the nose without opening your mouth and feel the coolness of breath
  • Do this 15-20 times.

Benefits

Sheetkari is good for your teeth and gums and cures pyorrhea.

Chandrabhedi

  • Close the right nostril with your right thumb
  • Exhale through your left nostril. Then breathe in through it again
  • Close the left nostril with your ring finger and exhale through the right
  • Repeat this five to 10 times, inhaling from the left and exhaling from the right

Benefits

Has a cooling effect on the nervous system and on the subtle nerves.
