Two Men Charged With TraffickingBy Awad Mustafa, Staff reporter |
Two Asian men were charged with human trafficking, illegal confinement, forced prostitution and operating a brothel, prosecutors said today.
It was the third human trafficking case referred by Dubai Public Prosecution to court since the UAE passed the Federal Law No. 51 (2006) on human trafficking.
According to the Public Prosecution, the two men - S.F. and F.N. - were arrested after the Dubai General Department of Criminal Investigations received tip off about the suspects allegedly attempting to pimp two women.
Investigations revealed that the two victims were absconding housemaids who ran away from their employers.
The first suspect, S.F., is believed to have aided them and promised them shelter and a new job.
Investigators claim S.F. held them in a flat along with F.N. and physically abused the two women and forced them into performing sexual favours to a number of clients while the two alleged traffickers pocketed the money.
Following the tip-off police then set up a sting operation to arrest the suspects.
According to Dubai Public Prosecution, the men initially asked for Dh10,000 but then settled for Dh9,000.
Dubai Attorney General Essa Al Humaidan called upon all civil institutions to aid in overcoming human trafficking by assisting police and prosecution.
