A one-of-its-kind diamond studded top estimated to be worth a jaw-dropping $1.3 million (Dh4.7 million) is up for a silent auction in Dubai.
Unveiled during a private preview at the Dubai International Jewellery Week last evening, the stunning outfit – encrusted with 905 diamonds mounted in 18 karat white gold and woven with 254 carats – was created by the famous Italian couturier and designer, the late Gianfranco Ferré in partnership with diamond company and DTC sightholder Dalumi.
Before arriving in Dubai, the sparkling top has travelled around the world. But it was during the Milan Fashion Week last February where it first got everybody by the eyeballs.
Invitees at Ferré’s designer’s women collection for fall/winter 2007 gasped in awe as British rock singer Skin appeared on the runway, flaunting the body-hugging top.
"Involving diamonds in the design process to this extent means creating pure beauty, capturing a sense of mystery, magic, a dream dimension," explained Gianfranco Ferré.
