Dubai Public Prosecution will recommend the death sentence for a Pakistani resident who allegedly killed a security guard of a car showroom in a robbery attempt in March.
Attorney General Essam Issa Al Humaidan on Sunday revealed the details of the murder that took place on March 3 at the Galadari Automobiles showroom in Deira.
Al Humaidan said that the defendant, identified as 24-year-old Pakistani Abdul Saboor K., confessed to the murder charge and provided investigators with a full reconstruction of the crime that night where 32-year-old Nepalese security guard, Padham Bhadur, was stabbed eleven times and had his skull crushed by a hammer.
Humaidan told media persons on Sunday that the maximum punishment of death will be recommended by the prosecution.
The defendant Abdul Saboor K., who was employed at the Mazda showroom as a janitor, has also been charged with attempted robbery of Dh458, 600 from the company safe which was located inside the accounts manager’s office.
According to Essam Al Humaidan, the defendant told the prosecution that he attempted the robbery to provide money for his sister’s wedding in Pakistan.
In his confession to the prosecution, Abdul Saboor said that he purchased a knife and gloves on the eve of the murder. The suspect said that he sneaked into the showroom at around 1am and looked for the security guard who is usually seated behind the telephone operator’s desk.
In his confession, the suspect said that he saw the guard sleeping inside a 4x4 Mazda CX9 and as he approached him the guard woke up. As the guard tried to reach the operator’s desk, the suspect stabbed him three times in the stomach and eight times in the back before smashing his head with a hammer and slashing his thigh and severing a finger.
He claimed, according to prosecution, that he then proceeded to the safe with a blowtorch and attempted to open it. This triggered the alarms and he fled the showroom after burning the room in order to disguise the police.
The investigations into the case have been concluded and a criminal court will take up the case next week.
