Hertz donates mini-van to EnviroServe

Hertz UAE is giving strong backing to a nationwide mobile phone recycling campaign.

As part of its commitment to support important environmental initiatives in the Emirates, Hertz has donated a mini-van to green company EnviroServe for a period of six months.

EnviroServe is a public private partnership with the UAE Federal Environment Agency and is behind the mobile phone recycling campaign, EnviroFone.

Launched in June 2007, the campaign aims to raise awareness of recycling in the UAE, by encouraging people to hand in their old and broken mobile phones, and unwanted mobile accessories such as handsets and batteries. The Hertz mini-van will be used by EnviroServe for the delivery of recycling drop-boxes and the collection of mobile phones from various locations across the Emirates.

Nigel Johnson, General Manager of Hertz UAE said, “There is a growing green movement in the UAE and it is important that companies get behind important environmental initiatives, such as the EnviroFone campaign. Donating a mini-van to help EnviroServe with their day-to-day operations is one simple step Hertz can take to support this worthy environmental initiative.”

“The campaign aims to protect the environment from contaminated and harmful toxins found in mobile phones and accessories. These toxins can seriously damage the environment and pollute water supplies if they are carelessly dumped. We want to play our part in helping the environment and we are highly supportive of this cause,” said Johnson.

Hertz will also introduce EnviroFone drop-boxes at all 14 car rental and leasing branches throughout the UAE, providing convenient locations for customers to deposit their mobile phones.

Those disposing of their unwanted mobile phones in EnviroFone drop-boxes receive a range of instant rewards as part of the campaign. Hertz will be featured on the vouchers, offering a range of special discounts.
