Collectors' sets at Wafi City MallBy Upasna Chakravarty |
A total of 14 hobbyists from seven countries are displaying their collections at the Wafi City Mall in Karama.
Two sets of collections of “Do Not Disturb” signs, a wide range of vintage cameras, bookmarks and snow globes are but a few of the items in this year’s Collectors’ Exhibition, organised as part of Dubai Summer Surprises. The show runs until Tuesday.
Among the featured sets at the exhibition is Frank Divendal’s collection of bookmarks, which in 2006 made it to the Guinness Book of World Records.
“Bookmarks tell a lot about the period of time in which they were published,” said Divendal, a Dutchman, who has collected 90,340 bookmarkers since 1982.

Also showcased are Reiner Weichert and Edoardo Flores’ collection of “Do Not Disturb” signs.
Weichert, a German, owns the second largest such collection in the world with 6,400 pieces, which he had amassed mostly from hotels for over 20 years.
Closing in at third is Flores, an Italian, who has accumulated 5,000 signs from 180 countries.
