A couple who named their son after Enrique Iglesias is thrilled to perform on stage with the international singing star.
A Dubai-based couple is still walking on air after a rare onstage encounter with international singer and songwriter, Enrique Iglesias, the namesake of their three-year-old son.
And they have pictures snapped by the Spanish-Filipino crooner himself to remember an evening they will never forget.
Desert dream
Frederic and Alissa Paillé were among several lucky residents who were given an exclusive invitation to Iglesias’s recent private performance, part of the launch of Desert Dream.
Minutes into the show, the couple was called on stage with Iglesias serenading them with his hit-single Hero as they slow-danced.
Iglesias then handed Frederic the microphone and encouraged him to finish the song as he cut in to dance with star-struck Alissa.
Frederic didn’t miss a beat, and to Iglesias’s amazement, carried the tune on key and in tempo.
When the song ended, a self-effacing Iglesias noted that "you sing the song better than I do".
"Have you been practising this s**t?" Iglesias asked.
Speaking to XPRESS, Frederic, a media executive, said he aspired to be a singer for many years and wanted to sing on stage with Iglesias. It was "my dream come true. He is so amazing, talented and cool."
Interestingly, it wasn’t the first encounter between the couple and Iglesias. In 2004, the couple was at an Iglesias concert in Dubai when a pregnant Alissa reached out and the star touched her hand. It was at that moment that she decided to call her son Enrique. "I knew that Enrique was the right name for our son," Alissa said. The couple also named their daughter Celine after meeting singer Celine Dion .
