Creek park aquarium: Dubai to have dolphins soon
A dolphin aquarium will open this summer at the Creek Park, said Dubai Municipality. Hussain Lootah, the Municipality’s Acting Director General, said the Dh33-million project will include a water circus show, dolphin therapy and sighting tours and lectures.

Call for teamwork: UAE and Russia sign crime deal
The UAE and Russia signed an executive plan yesterday for the enforcement of an anti-crime cooperation agreement inked between the two countries in September last year. The deal called for teamwork between the interior ministries of both countries.

Bookworm’s dream: Million books on sale
Over a million books will go "on sale" today at Al Boom Village, near Al Garhoud bridge and Wonderland. The discount-price books will be available across categories like education, fiction, non-fiction, health and tourism. Gifts will also be offered with school book purchases. The ‘Grand Sale’ on Books is organised by Pioneer House.

Appeals court: Life in jail cut to two years
An appeals court in Dubai has amended ruling against two police officers accused of having consensual sex with a woman while on duty, reported an Arabic newspaper. The court also ordered deportation of one defendant. Earlier, the Dubai Criminal Court had ordered life sentences for both the defendants and deportation of one officer. The crime took place last July.

Exhibition: Gem of a bridal piece
An exhibition of unique wedding design pieces by Swarovski is currently on at BurJuman. Titled Swarovski Crystallised Wedding, the exhibition features the works of Middle-Eastern designers like Rami Al Ali, Zuhair Murad, Furne One, Awataif Al Hai, Zaki Bin Abboud and Sohad Acouri and is on until May 21.

Competition: Dubai can dance
Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag, stars of BBC’s popular TV dance contest show Strictly Come Dancing will perform a special ballroom routine at the forthcoming Dubai Can Dance competition at Crowne Plaza Hotel on May 23. A show put together by the celebrated dancers will be the main highlight of the event which features other amateur duos. More than 500 people are expected to turn up at the show. Anton and Erin will also join Kim and professional dance instructor Jackie Sweed as judges for the evening.
