A terrific return of nett 69 in tricky conditions saw 15-handicapper Patrick Morrow win the overall May BMW medal title at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.
Morrow’s gross 84 was enough for a one-shot victory in the overall category. Three shots behind in Men’s Division B (15-28 handicap) was Chris Farrar on nett 72.
In Men’s Division A (0-14 handicap) big-hitting youngster Anthony Saad won in style with a superb nett 70 playing off a six handicap. Second was Stephen Clarke, who finished just one stroke back.
There was a tight battle for the overall gross prize and in the end it went to Mark Dennehy, whose 78 was just good enough, by virtue of the better back nine, to beat Francois Borchardt who carded the same total.
The Ladies Division was as competitive as ever and the newly crowned club champion Nasha Sarkari won by just a single shot with her nett 73 pipping Chikako Inoue.
Rak mixed open: Kondes duo keep title
Ras Al Khaimah Ashley Anderson and Tony Azoulay beat off the challenge of 80 other couples to win the RAK Mixed Open, sponsored by RAK Ceramics. Their exceptional return of 73 and 71 over the 36 holes beat Eric Koeman and Sandra Grenet. In the nett division Angelo and Rae Kondes retained their title with a 134 total (69 and 65), ahead of Vicki and Barry Rogers and Philip and Karen Mallinson.
