Cityscape Golf : Classic action

Daniel Hicks, Sports Editor

It’s Cityscape week and that means one thing whether you are an exhibitor, visitor or just want to get around town – congestion. Just negotiating the vast exhibition halls among the thousands of visitors or trying to get anywhere near the venue by car has at times this week been, well, exasperating.

But it’s not been all sweat, jams and stress as on the eve of the world’s largest property expo the great and the good of the property world were invited to let off some steam at Dubai Creek as Shaikh Holdings hosted the Cityscape Golf Classic.

As CEO of Shaikh Holdings, developer of the golf and leisure community Sanctuary Falls, Imran Shaikh told me: "It’s a great chance to bring people together over a round of golf.

"We’ve got end users – our future residents – and industry players here on an informal day.

"It’s a chance for the residents to meet each other before they move in.

"We are trying to give Sanctuary Falls a real sense of community and this is a great way to do that," said Shaikh.

  • Sanctuary Falls, situated in Jumeirah Golf Estates, features 96 resort-style villas overlooking the Earth golf course, designed by Greg Norman – host venue for the 2009 Dubai World Championship.

Will the new out of town venue for the Rugby Sevens put you off going?

No way! The Sevens is a must-see event

A bit. It's expensive enough without a long taxi journey

Yes. I can't afford it now, it's too far to go.

Never go anyway

What's the Dubai Rugby Sevens?
