Shabaan aims for top 10
Lebanese driver Basil Shabaan is eager to pick up from his battling performance in Italy last weekend when he heads to France for his next stop on the F3 Euro Series later this month. Shabaan overcame mechanical problems at Mugello to fight back from 29th to 20th in race one and 14th in the second race. “If I can make up so much ground after being dropped to the back of the field by a mechanical failure, I know I’m close to breaking into the top 10,” said Shabaan, who was raised in Abu Dhabi.

Sevens seas too strong
Led by a masterful century from Asif, Seven Seas Strikers beat ECB Blues by 39 runs in the 34th Bukhatir League A Division Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council at the Sharjah stadium.Asif’s 103 off 97 balls, with 10 boundaries, took his team to 243. ECB Blues closed on 181 for seven.

Pranav leads late charge
A late cameo from Sai Pranav steered Our Own School (Warqa) to a two-wicket win over Arab Unity School and into the quarter-finals of the Green Valley under-15 inter school cricket tournament, conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council.Chasing 140, Our Own suffered a middle-order collapse before Pranav’s unbeaten 34 off just 22 balls took them home with just two balls to spare.

UAE side's boost: Shehhi keeps Al Wadha alive
A late strike from Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi kept alive UAE side Al Wahda’s hopes of reaching the Asian Champions League quarter-finals as they beat Syrian club Al Karama 1-0 at home yesterday. Esmail Matar found Al Shehhi with a sublime pass in the 89th minute for the goal.
